Easter Fun with Friends

Here's one I didn't come up with! We had a great time creating Easter Snakes... that's right, Easter Snakes.

I was perplexed when my friend said she wanted to make Easter Snakes, but when I saw how fun and handy they were to make -- I was hooked!

Here's what we did:

Tools & Supplies: Drill (power would be good), Plastic Easter Eggs (15 or more; make sure they are the same size!) Color Optional, String (sturdy about 2.5 feet), Marker (red), Googly Eyes (the sewing kind with loops work best), Glue (your choice, we had both tacky and hot wax), Uncooked Beans/Rice, Patience

1. Separate the shells, leaving two whole eggs aside.

2. Drill a hole approximately 1/8 inch in the center of each half shell (see picture)

3. Take the remaining two whole eggs and separate. Drill hole in ONLY ONE HALF of each (the chunky, short half).

4. Make a knot about 1/4 in your string at the one end.

5. String one of the 'special' eggs we set aside as the tail.

6. Begin stringing the pattern (colors as you wish). Size is important. Vary short to tall ends to get good 'snakey' movement.

7. Repeat until you're out of shells or it is long enough! Knot the end of the string at the top shell. Make it strong/large.

8. String the eyes through the 'head' and pull the 'neck string' through the 'mouth' hole of the head. Knot securely.

9. Fray the ends of the tongue and color with marker.

10. Add uncooked beans or rice to tail section. Glue shut.

:) Enjoy!
