Here's a craft connection for the book Elmer, by David McKee.
The elephants are drawn on card stock and then cut out. They are gray on one side to show the 'regular' elephants. Elmer is gray on the opposite side.
On the Elmer's Day Parade side of the elephant, color any cool pattern you want.
